An Advent Reflection – May Peace Come!

The Brigidine Sisters give thanks this week for ICAN (The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons) who has been awarded the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize in Norway.

In a world where the risk of the use of nuclear weapons is greater than its been for a long time, this organization draws attention to the catastrophic consequences of any use of nuclear weapons for humans and all other living beings.

The efforts of  ICAN members  to achieve a treaty-based prohibition of nuclear weapons are also being acknowledged by this award.

As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, God’s messenger of peace, we join with people around the globe who work and pray for an end to all threats of the use of nuclear weapons and other forms of warfare. May peace come and may it begin with us!

The following article offers significant challenges for followers of Jesus regarding the use of weapons.
