By putting new emphasis on taking concrete actions, the Church has taken an incisive step in the prevention and reporting of abuse. In the document titled “Vos estis lux mundi”, “You are the Light of the World” ,released by Pope Francis on 9 May 2019, new procedures have been established for the whole Catholic Church to combat and report sexual abuse.
The document also makes it mandatory for priests and religious to report abuse to the competent ecclesiastical authority.
