Brigidine Sisters in Solidarity with Women Who Suffer Persecution

The Colosseum in Rome, the amphitheatre where early Christians were executed, was lit up in red for a recent event to highlight the rise of persecution and suffering of Christians in the Middle East, and parts of Africa and Asia today.

During this event Pope Francis made note of the witness of two courageous women – Asia Bibi who has been sentenced to death under Pakistan’s blasphemy law and Rebecca Bitrus from Nigeria, who was kidnapped, imprisoned and raped by a Boko Haram militant and later gave birth, alone, to his son.

We walk in solidarity with these women and will continue to advocate and pray for all who suffer persecution in our world today.
