Brigidines in Solidarity with Asylum Seekers

Josh Lourensz is a board member of the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project in Victoria and co-ordinates the Catholic Alliance for People Seeking Asylum (CAPSA).

He wrote the following article in the Eureka Street publication on 18 July 2019 to coincide with the sixth anniversary of the announcement by the then Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, that those who arrived in Australia by boat would never be resettled in Australia. This Government policy remains still.

On the sixth anniversary, a number of supporters of the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project and of the people being held on Manus and Nairu joined a letter writing campaign at the Brigidine Ministry Centre in Albert Park and shared Morning Tea together.
