“Those Now Last Will Be First”

The Gospel reading for the 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time in Year C is taken from Luke 13:22 – 30. In it Luke has Jesus reminding his followers and us that things are not always as we presume.

As we read and reflect on this Gospel in coming days, it might be a good opportunity to review our attitudes about who is worthy of God’s love. Many more than the faithful Jews or Christians will be gathered in God’s kin-dom. Many will be gathered from East and West to share in the generous outpouring of love at the feast God preparing.

What comfort does this offer you?

What challenge does it present to you?

How will you live with this awareness in the coming week?

The following reflection by Veronica Lawson RSM is offered to enrich your prayer and reflection.
