1st March – World Day of Prayer

The World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement led by Christian women who welcome all to join in prayer and action for peace and justice. The 2019 World Day of Prayer is prepared by women in Slovenia and  held on Friday 1st March.

At the core of the theme lies an invitation –”Come, everything is ready. Come to praise, thank and proclaim the kingdom of love”.  This invitation is grounded in the parable that Jesus told about a great dinner attended by the ones called off the streets, as the ones invited excused themselves. The community formed around the table is not enough to fill the house – there is still room.

As we mark this day we might reflect on the following questions: Who are the ones missing from the table in our communities? Who would you like to invite to the feast? How would you prepare for this feast?

On this World Day of Prayer, Brigidine Sisters join with women around the world and in our local communities to pray for peace and justice.

May our welcoming God enable us to set tables of hospitality and fill our communities with hope, love, and joy!
