On 7 February, the annual Brigidfest event was held at Melbourne’s Celtic Club. The Hon. Gabrielle Williams LLB, BA (Hons), the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Minister for Prevention of Family Violence and Minister for Women in the Victorian Government was the keynote speaker.
The topic of Gabrielle address was Women of the Irish resistance: Equality through the Struggle for Freedom. She spoke on the unique challenges experienced by women in resistance movements and the uniquely feminine experience of resistance itself.
Maria Forde added to the event with a musical performance.
Proceeds from this event were donated to the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project.
