Last weekend we reflected with Jesus in the wilderness. This weekend’s Gospel from Mark 9:2-10 takes us onto a mountain. It was there the story relates, that Jesus took Peter, James and John and was ‘transfigured’ in their presence. The story unfolds with great drama as Jesus senses being affirmed by the voice of God even as he simultaneously senses that his stance for compassion and justice will no doubt seal his fate. The disciples experience a range of reactions which ultimately call for courage and trust.
The following words by Veronica Lawson RSM are offered to enrich prayer and reflection in the coming week as we ‘listen’ for the voice of God and pray for the courage needed to respond wholeheartedly.
