5th Sunday of Lent 2020

In these extraordinary times we are invited to read and reflect on the most profound of mysteries, the mysteries of life and death.  The Gospel text is from John 11: 1-45 and focusses on the death and restoration to life of Lazarus, “the one whom Jesus loved”.

As the whole planet deals with the current  pandemic, we are called, as sisters and brothers right around the world, to responsibly play our part so that this illness may lead to greater love and even to “life”.

We pray:

Jesus, we ask you to unbind us from all fear, doubt, regrets and anxiety at this time.

You continually call us out of these situations and places that are death-dealing for us, for others and for our planet.

Free us to accept the gifts of freedom and life that you are offering us each and every day.

Hear the prayer we make today for ourselves and for all. Amen.

The following reflection by Veronica Lawson RSM is offered her to enrich your personal and community prayer during this week of Lent.
