The Scripture readings for this week might seem to create the image of a dualism of polarity. Like the culture in which we experience so much of our lives these days are focused on the “ins and the outs”.
Jeremiah illuminates differences between the barren and the fertile Jeremiah,17:5-8.
In 1 Cor 15:12, 16-20 Paul separates the believers in resurrection and the unenlightened and in Luke 6:17, 20-26 there’s a contrast between those called blessed and those who hear ‘Woe”. It is not hard to know where we want to be. We’re issued both an invitation and a choice.
Let’s ponder these and decide on the action with which we must respond.
Will we be “Blessed-bringers” or those who receive the “Woe-warning” Jesus speaks of in the Gospel reading?
