At the news of shocking terrorist attacks on our Muslim brothers and sisters gathered for prayer at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, Brigidine Sisters hold them and all the citizens of New Zealand in prayer. We stand in solidarity with all who reject every form of violence and who are dedicated to working for peace.
In particular our thoughts and prayers are with our Brigidine Sisters in New Zealand at this time.
Br. David Steindl-Rast has written: “In each of us there is a spark that can reverse the trends of violence and depression spiraling within us and in the world around us.”
As experiences of shock, grief, anger and pain spiral as a result of acts of violence, may we strive to find the space required for the peace of God’s love for us, for every human being and for all creation to bring the healing and strength needed at this time.
