As we continue to journey through these extraordinary days of adapting to the realities of the Covid-19 pandemic we’re invited on the Third Sunday of Easter 2020 to hear and reflect on the Gospel of Luke 24:13-35.
In this account we hear of another journey during which the disciples encountered a stranger on the road. At first they fail to recognize the significance of this encounter for their mood of sadness and depression has blinded them. It is only in the sharing of story and of hospitality that they come to recognize Jesus in their midst.
Let’s make the most of the coming days by reflecting on our experiences of ‘the stranger’ with us during this extraordinary time. In our cocooning or isolation may we recognize Jesus journeying with us and renewing us through all our encounters and experiences of life.
