Maryborough’s Whirrakee Rise Estate’s newest road, Barbara Court has been named after well-known St. Augustine’s Parish pastoral worker and 2014 Central Goldfields Shire Council Citizen of the Year, Brigidine Sister Barbara May, CSB. Barbara passed away peacefully four years ago in the 56th year of her religious profession.
She arrived in Maryborough in 1993 as a secondary school teacher at Highview College, before being appointed as a pastoral associate to the St Augustine’s Maryborough Victoria parish four years later.
A dedicated Brigidine, Barbara is lovingly remembered as a vivacious woman who’s caring and compassionate nature endeared her to all. To this day she is greatly missed by her family, her Brigidine Sisters and the local community of Maryborough, Victoria and surrounds.
