The Theme for World Refugee Day 2024, “For a World Where Refugees Are Welcomed” focuses on solidarity with refugees and people seeking asylum.
“With the number of forcibly displaced people at a record high, and at a time of widespread conflict, political and economic upheaval in many parts of the world, refugees need our solidarity now more than ever.”
(Dominique Hyde, UNHCR’s Director of External Engagement)

Across our Congregation, Brigidine Sisters are engaged in support with and for Refugees and Asylum Seekers – through education, awareness raising, advocacy, companionship and action. We honour and celebrate the strength, courage, resilience and contribution of people with whom we share life and hope.
Wherever we are, on World Refugee Day, we renew our commitment to stand in solidarity with people forced to flee – and to respond with welcome, hospitality and hope.
