Brigidine Sisters welcome the election of Pope Leo XIV with his message of peace in these fragile times in our world: “A peace that is unarmed and disarming, humble and persevering.”
We are encouraged by Pope Leo’s desire for the Church to work together to ‘build bridges and to be ever open to welcoming those in need’ and by his experience as a missionary that informs his commitment to lead the Church in ‘ever pursuing peace and justice’.
His reference to Pope Francis’s moral courage and his wish to continue the path of synodality give us comfort and strength.
We look forward to walking together as a Church community that is open, inclusive and attentive to the wounds of humanity and creation.
May Pope Leo be blessed in his leadership of the Church!
