Season of Creation 2025

“In this our time, we still see… an economic paradigm that
exploits  Earth’s resources and marginalises the poorest.”
(Pope Leo, St Peter’s Square, 18 May 2025.)
Brigidine Sisters and their colleagues remain mindful of the urgent plea of Laudato Si’ to respond to the cry of Earth and peoples rendered poor.
On 1st September we observe World Day of Prayer for Creation. The day was inspired by the Encyclical Laudato Si  and established by Pope Francis in 2015. It begins the annual Season of Creation, which runs until October 4th.
Continuing the legacy of the late Pope Francis, Pope Leo sends message for the World Day of Prayer for Creation.
“As yet, we seem incapable of recognizing that the destruction of nature does not affect everyone in the same way. When justice and peace are trampled underfoot, those who are most hurt are the poor, the marginalized and the excluded.
The suffering of indigenous communities is emblematic in this regard.”
– Pope Leo

Through its 2025 theme: Peace with Creation,  the Season of Creation invites us to prayer, reflection and action for environmental and social justice.  We pray in gratitude for the gifts of Earth and re-commit to justice and action within the one community of life.
