World Day of Peace, 1st January, is a Day marked by the Vatican – reminding all people to reflect on the important work of building peace.
Pope Leo, during his first message for World Day of Peace, has chosen the theme:
Peace be with you all: Towards an “unarmed and disarming” peace.

In the footsteps of Jesus, St Brigid and our Founder, Daniel Delany, the Brigidine Congregation continues to stand for Justice and Peace – within the human community and with Earth, our common home.
As we greet the beginning of a new year, the Brigidine Sisters hold the Jewish community of Australia in thought and prayer. We deplore the recent attack on families who were celebrating, on the first night of Chanukah, on an Australian seaside park in Bondi. We uphold the message and solidarity expressed by Catholic Religious Australia (CRA) : …in solidarity with the Australian Jewish community
“An essential service that religions must render to a suffering humanity is to guard against the growing temptation to weaponize even thoughts and words.
“…alongside action, it is more necessary than ever to cultivate prayer, spirituality, and ecumenical and interreligious dialogue as paths of peace and as languages of encounter within traditions and cultures.”
