‘Brigidines stand in reverence for the community of life and will continue to engage with others in a variety of ways to further compassion and justice for humanity and for planet Earth.
We have a growing appreciation that everything is connected. Thus our focus and our concerns for eco-justice as well as for social justice remain at the heart of our Brigidine commitment.’ (csb website)
Eleven years ago this month, the late Pope Francis published the visionary encyclical, Laudato Si.
Laudato Si, referring to Earth, Our Common Home, continues to encourage focus on the urgent need to address climate change, environmental degradation and social inequity.
“We are not faced with two separate crises,
one environmental and the other social,
but rather with one complex crisis
which is both social and environmental.”
(Laudato Si’, 139)
Laudato Si Week, which is held in May each year, commemorates Laudato Si’s publication and calls us to embrace integral ecology.
Laudato Si Week 2026 (17-24 May) takes up the theme: From Hope to Action, encouraging us to intensify our efforts.
Hope is lived and shared through daily decisions, community life, reflection, and concrete acts of care. (LS Movement 2026)
Let us consider:
What might each of us do this week in reverence for the community of all life?
How are we moving from hope to action?
When Earth suffers, the poor among us suffer the most. (Pope Leo)
