As Brigidines, we recognise that we are a diverse group of women, united by our history, charism, goodwill and commitment. We affirm the contribution of each sister. Her life, prayer and ministry are gifts to our congregation. (Brigidine Congregational Forum 2016).
We know that our Founder, Bishop Daniel Delany saw a need and invited our predecessors to respond; today we continue to discern that need and respond appropriately. The honest witness of women like ourselves over the centuries continues to keep the flame of Brigid alive. In the words of Bishop Daniel Delany we commit “to do ordinary things extraordinarily well”. (Adapted from Bishop Denis Nulty’s homily, Tullow Parish Church, 12 May 2016)
As we mark this world day of prayer we commit to continuing to strive to become more aware of the sacredness of all within the one web of life and to respond through contemplative presence and action to the exhortation of Pope Francis to ‘wake up the world’.
