In 2013, Pope Francis wrote that being a missionary was at the very heart of being a Catholic, a parish or a Catholic institution. For 27 years, Sister Patricia Fox, a member of the Our Lady of Sion Order, has been living and working as a missionary among the poor and marginalized in The Philippines.
During all those years Sister Pat has been in solidarity with the poorest of the poor and contributed to many agricultural projects in order to empower ordinary people. News in recent days of the threatened cancellation of her missionary visa has led many to fear that this action by the Government will curtail or prevent her from the important work of helping to bring about the Kingdom of God.
As women religious who work and advocate for justice, Brigidine Sisters hold in prayer at this time Sister Pat, her Community, the people of the Philippines and all those who work to enhance the human dignity of God’s children.
