Since 2002, the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project (BASP) based in Melbourne, Australia has offered support for people seeking asylum. Understandably one of the key needs of these people is to access housing. Initially this was offered in two Brigidine-owned houses but gradually the need has increased so much that through the generous support of others more housing has been sourced.
While BASP is very grateful for the financial assistance it receives, the Project is experiencing increasing costs as it attempts to meet the emerging needs of asylum seekers in Australia. Too often these vulnerable people do not find support from any other sources.
