This week the Modern Slavery Act was passed in the Senate of the Australian Parliament. It’s fitting that some members of ACRATH (Australian Catholic Religious Against Trafficking in Humans), the Salvation Army, STOP THE TRAFFICK and staff members of Home Affairs who were all involved in working and advocating for this initiative, were present at Parliament House Canberra on this significant day.
While there is still much more work to be done to protect people who are exploited, trafficked and forced to work in slave-like conditions, this is a landmark decision in Australia!
