“Anyone Who Welcomes You, Welcomes Me”

Jesus’ instruction to his disciples in Matthew 10: 37-42 is just as truly his instruction to us as his disciples today. As we read and pray over this Gospel for the Thirteenth Sunday, Year A, we might ask:

What was Jesus instructing the Twelve when he was teaching them?

What instruction is Jesus giving me/us as we hear the same words at this time and in the context of life today?

What call to action am I or are we being asked to ponder and take up in our daily lives as a response to Jesus’ demands?
