What memories, stories or experiences do you bring to Ash Wednesday? What significance does this day have for you? An awareness of our shared humanity and our connection with Earth, failure, sin, conversion or a new start? Or does it mean something different for you this particular year?
Ash Wednesday is preceded by Shrove Tuesday and is a Christian day of prayer and fasting. It begins the season of Lent – the six weeks of prayer and penance leading up to the great celebration of the resurrection of Jesus at Easter.
This Lent, let us be in solidarity with Christians around the globe who are keeping this season and with all committed to living reflectively and sharing with others whatever gifts or riches they have.
