The Gospel reading from Matthew 25:1-13 is read as we move closer to the end of the Church’s year. It is another of Jesus’ parables inviting the listener to consider what is of most importance by recounting an experience of some wise and foolish young women awaiting the bridegroom to bring his bride from her parents house to his family home.
It also calls us to be prepared as we so often wait in anticipation. In such circumstances we can identify with both the wise and the foolish young women.
