There’s a famous quote from Hildegard of Bingen who once said: Be not lax in celebrating. Be not lazy in the festive service of God. Be ablaze with enthusiasm.
The weekend of celebrating All Saints Day and All Souls Day seems like the right occasion to take this wisdom to heart. Let us celebrate our patroness, St Brigid of Kildare, the saints whose names we bear and those countless women and men who lived life to the full and served others with courage and generosity.
On All Souls Day, we give thanks for those who have gone before us leaving us with strong and gentle examples of lives well lived. We remember especially our deceased Brigidine Sisters, family members and friends and all who have died in the pursuit of justice in the world.
May they continue to shine forth giving hope to us and to all.
