complex, systemic, hidden – and organised

Brigidine Sisters in all corners of the Congregation acknowledge World Day Against Trafficking in Persons – 30 July 2025, a day that aims to shed light on the scourge that Human Trafficking is in our world.  Human trafficking continues to be a global threat driven by organized crime. More and more victims are being trafficked every year, across greater distances, with greater violence, for longer periods of time and for greater profit.  (UN)

Hence the WDATP 2025 theme:
“Human trafficking is Organized Crime – End the Exploitation.”

This theme aims to raise awareness of a critical but often overlooked truth:

“human trafficking is not an isolated incident,
but a complex and systemic crime.
It operates in hidden, highly organized ways and
relies on the exploitation of the most vulnerable.”

– Sr. Abby Avelino, MM – International Coordinator, Talitha Kum.
