Give Them Something Yourselves

In the Gospel of Matthew 14:13 – 21 proclaimed in all Christian communities on the 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year A, we encounter our loving God, who not only sustains us in life but who calls us to take personal responsibility to ensure others have what they need in life.

* Who are some of the people who are hungry or in a lonely place in our world today?

* When are you sometimes tempted to “send them away“? When do you see this happening in your church, your nation?

* As Brigidines, we are called to use our resources (our five loaves and two fish) with generosity, compassion and justice. What particular challenges does this call hold for us in a time marked by increased homelessness, poverty, hunger and displacement?
