The Gospel reading for the Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C is taken from the Gospel of Luke 10:1-12, 17 – 20. As we listen and reflect on this Gospel account we hear of Jesus calling people on mission and sending them out in pairs.
This week we are invited to recall our own initial sense of being called to respond to the mission of Jesus and to be engaged in ministry. Since then, “Our place in society has changed. Our ministries are in greater collaboration with others and our influence is increasingly one of presence.” (2016 Brigidine Congregational Forum) . Let us continue to embrace this new role wherever we are today.
Let us encourage others we meet to know they too are each called and gifted to be ‘on mission’.
