Brigidine Sisters stand in solidarity with the people of Afghanistan in the midst of the unfolding humanitarian crisis there. We call on our governments to help the thousands of people fleeing the country. As we pray for all so deeply impacted by this crisis, we commit to welcoming Afghan refugees and their families into our neighbourhoods and offering whatever support may be needed.
We are aware too of the strong earthquake and storms that have severely shaken Haiti, resulting in numerous deaths, many injuries, and causing extensive damage to homes, businesses and the land.
For those who are fleeing their homes, we pray for safe sanctuary.
For those who are staying, we pray for strength and safety.
For those who are fighting, we pray for justice and peace.
For those whose hearts are breaking, we pray for comfort.
For those who see no future, we pray for hope.
For ourselves, we pray for hearts of compassion and generosity.
