The Gospel reading for the Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C is from Luke 9:51 – 62. On this weekend we are called to reflect on our resolution to truly follow Jesus wherever he leads us.
We are invited to continue on the journey with all its demands. On the way, there is no room for violence, for holding onto old securities or for turning back.
If we are serious about following Jesus and his way we must relinquish certainties and be prepared to ‘set out faces’ towards whatever it takes to ensure God’s reign of justice and peace breaks forth for all people and all of creation.
The following reflection by Veronica Lawson RSM is offered for your prayer and reflection in the coming week. It first appeared at https://www.mercyworld.org/library/sunday-gospel-2019/
