This National Day in Australia, gives everyone an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the rich heritage of this nation.
We give thanks for the ancient history of Australia’s first people – their lives and stories, their great care of the land and their continuing presence and contribution to society.
We give thanks for the colonial settlers who brought with them their ways of life and institutions that still influence our nation today.
We give thanks for the more recent settlers in Australia – migrants from all over the world, refugees and asylum seekers, peoples of many and no faith who with courage and generosity share their many gifts with others and thus enrich the lives of all.
