For approximately 15 years, the Brigidine Congregation has been an active member of UNANIMA International which is a coalition founded in June 2002 by representatives from communities of women religious. Our current representative on the Board of UNANIMA International is Brigidine Sister, Margaret Fyfe CSB.
UNANIMA International (UI) is a NGO advocating on behalf of women and children (particularly those living in poverty, immigrants, refugees and the environment. The work of UI takes place primarily in New York, where with other members of civil society they aim to educate and influence policymakers at the global level. In solidarity, they work for systemic change to achieve a more just world.
Membership of UI consists of 19 Congregations of Roman Catholic sisters whose 19,500 members work in 81 countries. They bring their voices, concerns and experiences as educators, health care providers, social workers and development workers to the United Nations.
