Each year at Solas Bhride Centre in Kildare, Brigidine Sisters gather with members of Cairde Bhride and others to mark the feast of Bealtaine – the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. This year, because of Covid-19 they were unable to gather together for the event. However, they developed and shared suggestions of ways they could be united in celebrating, each in their own homes.
There are many customs associated with the celebration of Bealtaine. Bealtaine is also the Irish word for the month of May, a month dedicated to Mary, the Mother of Jesus.
