Pentecost Spirit lives in the core of the natural universe

In this Laudato Si 10th anniversary year, the Brigidine Laudato Si Task Group offers some reading for
reflection at Pentecost time…

The Holy Spirit is a dynamic, cosmic force pulsing through all creation –  from the Church and the human heart to the evolving universe itself.

Pope Francis highlights the Holy Spirit as the breath of life, the one who sustains and animates all creation:

“The Spirit of life dwells in every living creature and calls us to enter into relationship with him” (LS 88).

Two reflections that invite us to re-imagine our understanding of the Spirit’s role as life-giver, renewer, and unifier are offered for reading and personal/communal reflection.

The first by Una Agnew SSL addresses Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh and how his spirituality reflects Laudato Si:
The spirituality inherent in the poetry of Patrick Kavanagh is close to that of Laudato Si

The second is a reflection written by the late Daniel O’Leary, an Irish priest of the Diocese of Leeds, UK, who died on 21 January 2019. O’Leary challenges the reader to adopt an expansive understanding of the Spirit situated in an understanding of the Cosmic Story:
