When our Founder, Bishop Daniel Delany began his ministry in Ireland one of the first actions he took was to gather small groups of lay catechists to share their faith with other.
Over the 214 years since then, Brigidine Sisters have ministered as catechists in cities, rural communities, parishes and schools. Some have also spent time training catechists or involved in motor missions.
This month Pope Francis invites all to pray for catechists, that “summoned to announce the Word of God, they might be its witnesses, with courage and creativity, and in the power of the Holy Spirit, with joy and much peace.”
Let us take up this invitation to pray for and support catechists in their lives and work.
