The Gospel reading for the 14th Sunday of Year A is taken from Matthew’s Gospel 11:25-30 and expands the reflections in the other Readings for the day.
The following thoughts from Veronica Lawson RSM are offered to expand our thinking and prayer in the coming week: https://www.mercyworld.org/reflection-on-the-gospel-ot-14a-vl-050720.pdf. They also call us to make a generous response to the invitation from Jesus.
As we hear the Word proclaimed this weekend and spend time breaking open that Word, let’s recall our Brigidine motto – “Strength and Gentleness“.
We give thanks for the constant strength and gentleness of our God and pray that we may embody Jesus’ spirit of humility and compassion in our community living and our ministries. We also pray for those who are carrying heavy burdens at this time – health carers, frontline workers, journalists being subjected to unjust judgements and those who fear losing their jobs or businesses, all suffering from addictions or other illnesses.
