Remembering Two Men of Inspiration

In recent weeks the world has lost two men of true inspiration – Senator John Lewis from USA and John Hume from Northern Ireland.

Both men lived through extraordinary experiences and difficulties yet all the while keeping their eyes on building a better and more just world – John Lewis, dedicating his life to overcome racism in the United States, and John Hume working to eradicate division and violence in Ireland.

May the memory of these men inspire us to continue to work against racism and prejudice in all its forms and to take whatever action we can to promote unity and peace within our communities and our countries.

As we give thanks for their rich and lasting legacy, let’s ensure that whatever legacy we as Brigidines leave, individually and as a Congregation, will be life-giving for those who come after us and for planet Earth – “Choose Life”!
