Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth of Nations member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty.

This day invites all Brigidine Sisters, their associates and colleagues, in solidarity with others, to renew their prayer and their actions in small and large ways, for peace.

We pray:

God of all the living, your heart must be broken because of the violence caused by humans. Forgive us our lack of will to create a world without conflict and war.

We remember today all who gave their lives to bring peace. We remember all those who have lost their lives because of conflicts.

We remember especially the countless women, men and children who still live in war-torn places where violence and suffering reign.

Forgive us for learning so little from the futility of war, from the suffering of millions and the destruction of the environment.

May we learn to work together for a more peaceful world where injustice, corruption and domination give way to justice, respect and peace.

God of peace, make us instruments of your peace wherever we are.
