Seeking Asylum is a Basic Human Right

Bishop of Parramatta, Australia, Bishop Vincent Long OFM Conv has spoken out against the threat of cruel and inhumane treatment of asylum seekers on Manus Island and Nauru. Bishop Vincent is the Australian Catholic Bishops Delegate for Migrants and Refugees and a former boat person.

Brigidine Sisters too believe that every person, irrespective of age, race, gender or religion has the right to live safely, free from persecution. When applying for protection, people seeking asylum should be treated with dignity and respect and their claims should be processed with expediency.
