Speaking Up For Refugees

Brigidine Sister Brigid Arthur csb, one of the founder of the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project, shares some of her long experience of working with asylum seekers. She has been led to believe that indefinite detention deprives such people of the chance to contribute to the society to which they long to be a part. It replaces meaningful activities with daily humiliations and indignities.

Seeking asylum isn't a crime

Australia is the only country to imprison people who seek asylum INDEFINITELY – hundreds of people, including those in the Mantra Hotel and Kangaroo Point Hotel, have been detained for 7 years or longer. Imagine not knowing whether you will ever be free. This injustice must end.Email the PM scott.morrison.MP@aph.gov.au to call for Australia to stop imprisoning people seeking asylum.
