Talitha Kum & UK Ambassador Take Stand Against Trafficking

The Comboni Missionary Sister Gabriella Bottani, the International Co-ordinator of  Talitha Kum, has shared the good news that a new international network against human trafficking has been set up in Ethiopia with the collaboration of the British Embassy to the Holy See.

The UK Ambassador to the Holy See, Ambassador Sally Axworthy spoke recently of her commitment to stand up against modern slavery in line with the UK Government that has set this as a major priority on its global agenda.

Ethiopia is an area in the Horn of Africa most affected by human trafficking. Trafficking there occurs both internally from rural to urban areas, and internationally as there are many vulnerable groups of people on the move, with migrants and refugees coming into the country, and many attempting to migrate. Of course, women as usual are particularly vulnerable to this trafficking.
