A recent series by Athlone Community Radio documented a seven day journey with Anna Kavanagh down the River Shannon from Loch Allen to the Estuary. The series was made in conjunction with Afri (Action from Ireland) an Irish NGO which promotes global justice and peace.
Anna Kavanagh commenced her pilgrimage by visiting the Brigidine Sisters at Solas Bhride Spirituality Centre. There she received a light from the Brigid Candle to accompany her and bring to light the need to protect the mighty Shannon River from pollution and for future generations.
Anna carried the Brigid Flame as a symbol of hope, justice and peace for our world as she journeyed along the River.
