‘The Brigidine partnership with UNANIMA International, which began in September 2003 provides us with a voice for change in a way that is beyond our capacity as a community of sisters. In the spirit of Brigid, we have continued to support UNANIMA International in endeavouring to create a more just society for all’
– Margaret Fyfe
From listening at the ‘grass roots,’ UNANIMA International has gained voice at the UN to advocate for the marginalised.
Part of UNANIMA’s mission has enabled the voices and the journeys of those who have experienced homelessness to be heard, valued and better understood.
UNANIMA’s extensive research into homelessness, displacement and trauma has been bringing the lived experiences of people—especially women, children and girls—directly to decision-makers and giving them a place at the table.
A comprehensive report on UNANIMA’s work in this area to date has been recently published in the document: The Hidden Faces of Homelessness – Global insights and Pathways Forward.
The Document’s Forward, written by Jean Quinn, is an enlightening read: Forward by Jean Quinn DW- Hidden Faces of Homelessness

Part 3 (from page 61) of the Document, Hidden Faces of Homelessness, provides a more comprehensive understanding of the issue of homelessness in these regions,
“ …highlighting both the unique manifestations of homelessness in different contexts and the cross-cutting issues that transcend borders…”
