“The Moment of Crisis Has Come”

During a recent interview on the BBC, 93 year old Sir David Attenborough is quoted as saying about climate change that, “We have been putting things off for year after year”,  but now with the devastating fires in Australia, “The moment of crisis has come” in efforts to tackle climate change.

Whether we’re living with severe blizzards in North America, floods in other northern countries or bushfires in Australia, we need to consider what invitations or call these times bring to us as Brigidine women seeking to deepen our understanding of the complexity and inter-relatedness of factors which threaten the life and well-being of our common home”. Let’s take some decisive action for ecological justice in our homes, neighbourhoods and countries.

We give thanks for wise prophets such as Sir David Attenborough and Pope Francis who continue to call us to hear the cry of the Earth and to respond in love.
