The Gospel reading for the second Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year A is taken from John 1: 29-34. In this account John writes of seeing Jesus coming towards him after his baptism. He ends with the words: “Yes, I have seen and I am the witness that he is the Chosen One of God.” What a character reference!
This testimony has echoed down through the centuries to our time. As we reflect on the Gospel we might ponder what this reading is saying to us about the strength and vulnerability people recognized in Jesus? Let’s reflect too on what sort of strength and vulnerability we are being called to bring to our daily lives in community and ministry in 2020?
