Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day
Brigidines, across our Congregation, acknowledge that on 21 September, the world marks the International Day of Peace.
The United Nations reminds all people that:
– Peace is ‘ the lived experience of safety, dignity, opportunities and cooperation.’
– Peace isn’t just built in conference rooms – it is shaped by all people playing their part – building peace from the ground up.
Hence the theme for International Day of Peace 2026,
Invest in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day,
Consider:
‘ Peace is not just made at conference tables, but in classrooms, neighbourhoods, and everywhere people meet with open minds and open hearts. Together, day by day, we can build a more just world, with compassion, equality and dignity for all.‘
– UN Secretary-General António Guterres
Recall:
“ The true tools for building peace are not weapons of destruction,
instead they are
truth,
dialogue,
patience,
goodness,
justice,
mercy,
understanding,
care and love.
These qualities possess the power to
transform individuals, renew communities and heal the wounds of our world.”
(Pope Leo For World Day of Prayer for Creation 2026)
Let us consider
In what ways might we be makers of Peace, within every encounter, wherever we are, every day?
