Our Power, Our Planet

Earth Day 2026, observed on Wednesday, April 22, carries the theme “Our Power, Our Planet”, highlighting that meaningful change relies on “collective action from ordinary people, whether through renewable energy adoption, waste reduction, or local conservation efforts.” (EarthDay.org)

Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22 each year since its inception in 1970.  While not excluding Earth Day messages of over five decades of awareness raising, this year’s theme aims to create an emphasis on collective and individual action. 

On Earth Day, individuals, communities, workplaces and organizations are invited to pause to reconsider how they interact with the natural world. The challenge then is to build individual  and collective habits, systems, and mindsets that respect Earth, our common home, every single day.

Let Earth Day be more than a date on the calendar. Let it be a promise — to tread lightly, to protect fiercely…
