We have a deepening awareness that all of life is interconnected and interdependent within the one sacred community of life, and that this is where we encounter God.
As a small group of women we strive to live in a spirit of right relationship with all beings in this community of life and be a prophetic voice in solidarity with planet Earth and against all forms of exploitation and oppression.
Our planet and her peoples are in crisis. We need new ways of being and living. As Brigidines, we are committed to:
- looking contemplatively on the unfolding mystery of creation and all the events of life;
- educating ourselves and others in all aspects of the ‘New Universe Story’ and its implications for spirituality, theology, justice and Earth ethics;
- hearing and responding to the cry of “our Sister, Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us” and who now cries out to us because of the harm inflicted on her by our irresponsible use and abuse of her. (Refer Laudato Si).
“Many things have to change course, but it is we human beings above all who need to change. We lack an awareness of our common origin, of our mutual belonging, and of a future to be shared with everyone. This basic awareness would enable new convictions, attitudes and forms of life. A great cultural, spiritual and educational challenge stands before us, and it will demand that we set out on a long path of renewal.” (Laudato Si)
